Losing Weight

Intermittent fasting—not good now?

Intermittent fasting has received a lot of attention from patients and researchers in the last few years. It does seem to work. But, as is usually the case, we are now seeing studies that may dampen our initial enthusiasm. But take courage: the main issue about losing weight is what works for you. Intermittent fasting is only one of the many tools we have to address this complex problem. I say try whatever, as long as it is not harmful.

Still, the best is to eat a lot of veggies, get off sugar and exercise daily.

Number of daily meals, not intermittent fasting, associated with long-term weight change

In the general population, long-term weight change is strongly associated with the average daily number of medium and large meals but not with a specific time-restricted eating strategy, researchers reported. In an analysis of electronic health record data for patients across three health systems, researchers found that the number of daily meals was positively associated with weight change over a median of 6.3 years; however, the time interval between first and last meal was not associated with weight change.”
